How do I become a Traffic Control Person?
If you’re not certified your first step is to become certified.
- Contact Universal Health and Safety (or any other BCCSA certifying partner) to register for the next available TCP course
- Successfully complete the 2-day course
- Receive your TCP card!
If you’re already certified…
- Contact Universal Recruitment via phone at 1-844-944-4737 or email at recruiting@theuniversalgroup.ca
- Come in for an interview
- Complete an orientation
- Start a paid on-the-job training program with a mentor (one to three days)
- Head to work!
How do I become a Lane Closure Technician?
- Complete the steps above until you’ve earned 600-hours of experience (approximately three to four months)
- Request a performance review for promotion
- Come in for an interview
- Give us a copy of your driver’s abstract
- Complete an LCT assessment (online)
- Complete a driver’s classroom assessment (online)
- Complete a driver’s road assessment
- Start a paid on-the-job training program with a mentor (one to two weeks)
- Get your own truck!
How do I become a Field Supervisor?
- Complete the steps above until you’ve earned a combined 5-years of experience
- Complete Occupational First Aid courses (level II preferred)
- Wait for a Field Supervisor position to become available and then apply
- Come in for an interview
- Start a paid on-the-job training program with a mentor
- Plan your route!
